Haliburton Lake is a beautiful lake located in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada. It's part of an area called Dysart et al. This lake is found in Central Ontario, west of the southern part of Algonquin Park. It sits between Percy Lake to the east and Redstone Lake to the west.
Haliburton Lake is about 360 meters (1,180 feet) above sea level. It covers a large area of about 1,031 hectares (2,548 acres). The lake is also part of the huge Great Lakes Basin, which means its waters eventually flow towards the Great Lakes.
Water Flow: Inflow and Outflow
The main river that flows into Haliburton Lake is the Gull River. This river enters the lake from the east, bringing water from Percy Lake.
The Gull River is also the main river that flows out of Haliburton Lake. It leaves the lake from the southwest, near a small community called Fort Irwin. From there, the water travels through a channel to another lake called Oblong Lake. So, the Gull River acts like a highway for water, both bringing it in and taking it out of Haliburton Lake!
Life Around the Lake
The shores of Haliburton Lake are home to many people. Some people live there all year round, making it their permanent home. However, most of the people who live by the lake are seasonal cottagers. This means they have cottages or cabins that they visit mainly during holidays or warmer months.
Many of these cottagers are part of a group called the Haliburton Lake Cottagers Association (HLCA). This association helps to look after the lake and the community around it. They work together to keep the lake clean and enjoyable for everyone.
