Han Seung-yeon (Hangul: 한승연), born on July 24, 1988, is a talented South Korean singer and actress. Many people know her as Seungyeon. She is famous for being a main singer in the K-pop girl group Kara. She is also well-known for her acting roles, especially in the TV show Hello, My Twenties!.

About Her Life and Career

Early Years and First Steps

Han Seung-yeon was born in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, South Korea. She started acting when she was very young. Her first roles were as a child actress in shows like Dear Ends (1993) and Star in My Heart (1997).

Later, she moved to the United States to study at Tenafly High School in New Jersey. But she decided to leave high school early to follow her dream of becoming a singer. After returning to South Korea, she joined the girl group Kara on March 29, 2007. Even while busy with Kara, she passed her high school exams. She then went to Kyung Hee University to study theater and film.

Starting Her Music Journey

Seungyeon officially started as the main singer of Kara on March 29, 2007. This was on the TV show M! Countdown.

Besides singing, she also worked as a TV host. From 2007 to 2008, she was a VJ for MSL Break. She also co-hosted Boys and Girls Music Countdown starting in June 2008. She worked with actors like Kim Hye-sung and Kim Soo-hyun. She also appeared on the reality show I Need a Family – Season 2 in 2008. In this show, celebrities lived together as a family.

Solo Music and Acting Roles

In March 2009, Seungyeon sang on a song called "Come to Play" with rapper Nassun. She also released her first solo song, "Miracle," for a movie soundtrack. In October 2009, she joined a special group called 4Tomorrow for a Samsung campaign.

In 2010, she sang "Super Star" for the TV drama Mary Stayed Out All Night. She also co-hosted a show called I Love Pet. In 2011, she sang "Because of Love" for the drama Warrior Baek Dong-soo. She also became a co-host for the show Animal Farm.

Seungyeon released her first solo single, "Guilty," on November 30, 2012. She even performed it on the TV show Music Core.

In 2013, Han Seung-yeon started taking on more acting roles. She played a younger version of the main character in the drama Pure Love. She also had a big supporting role as Choi Suk-bin in the historical drama Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love. In 2014, she starred in the drama Jang Bo-ri is Here!. She also got her first main role in the web series Her Lovely Heels. From 2013 to 2014, she co-hosted the music show The Show with fellow Kara member Park Gyu-ri.

Kara Disbands and New Beginnings

In January 2016, the group Kara officially ended. Seungyeon and two other members decided not to renew their contracts. After Kara, she signed with a new company called J Wide Company.

In July 2016, she starred in the popular youth drama Hello, My Twenties!. She played Jung Ye-eun, a role she returned to for the show's second season in 2017. She also appeared in a short film called Frame in Love.

In 2018, Seungyeon moved to a new company, Inyeon Entertainment. She then starred in the fantasy romance drama About Time and the travel romance drama Twelve Nights.

In April 2020, she signed with another new agency, YGX Entertainment. In 2021, she acted in the comedy horror movie Show Me the Ghost. For her performance, she won a special award at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.
