Park Gyu-ri, born on May 21, 1988, is a famous South Korean singer, actress, and radio host. Many people know her by her stage name, Gyuri. She is a member of the popular K-pop girl group called Kara.

Life and Career Highlights
Early Life and Acting Beginnings (1988–2002)
Park Gyu-ri was born in Seoul, South Korea. She started acting when she was very young. Her first TV show was in 1995, called Today is a Nice Day. She also appeared in the show Ladies of the Palace in 2001, playing a younger version of a main character.
Joining Kara and Becoming Famous (2007–2010)
On March 29, 2007, Gyuri became a member of the girl group Kara. She was the leader of the group and even came up with its name, which means "joy" in Greek. Kara became very successful and popular.
In 2009, Gyuri became a regular guest on a TV show called Star Golden Bell. She also sang a duet called "Day After" with another artist, Hong Kyung-min, in 2010. Later that year, she became a radio DJ for the MBC show ShimShimTapa with Shindong. She hosted the show until October 2011 because her schedule became very busy.
Solo Work and Growing Popularity (2011–Present)
In 2011, Gyuri was the only member of Kara who stayed with their music company, DSP Media, during a contract discussion. The issue was later solved. She also lent her voice to the Korean version of the animated movie Alpha and Omega.
Gyuri gave a special talk about her career at a high school in Incheon. She also hosted big music events like the "Music Bank in Tokyo K-Pop Festival" and the "Seoul-Tokyo Music Festival 2011." She even performed in a musical called 200 Pounds Beauty Musical. Even though she had some vocal problems, she kept practicing and performing. After the musical, she had surgery on her vocal cords in 2012.
In 2012, she helped host the 26th Golden Disc Awards in Japan. She also hosted other K-Pop festivals in 2013.
In 2014, Gyuri was cast in a movie called Two Rooms, Two Nights. In 2016, her contract with DSP Media ended. She decided to focus more on acting and joined a new company. She also said that Kara had not broken up and that the members hoped to work together again in the future. That same year, she acted in the historical TV show Jang Yeong-sil. In 2018, she was cast in the film Miyak.
