About the Album
When they were making the first season of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus said they were focused on the show. But they also thought about making a soundtrack later. The show started on March 24, 2006, and was a big hit. The first episode had 5.4 million viewers, which was a record for the Disney Channel at the time.
Soon after, Disney decided to make a soundtrack and Miley Cyrus's own album. They wanted to follow the success of Hilary Duff. She had also become a music star after playing the main role in the TV show Lizzie McGuire.
In the show, Miley Cyrus plays Miley Stewart. She's a normal teenager who secretly lives a double life as the pop star Hannah Montana. Miley Cyrus explained that the songs for the first season were about the show's story. They helped people understand the characters. Later songs were more about talking to the fans.
The album mixes different music styles like teen pop, pop rock, and country pop. Miley Cyrus sings eight songs as Hannah Montana. Songs like "The Best of Both Worlds" and "This Is the Life" are about Hannah's secret life. "If We Were a Movie" is about romance, and "I Got Nerve" is about "girl power."
Other artists also contributed to the album. "Pop Princess" by The Click Five is a "sparkly power pop" song. "Find Yourself in You" by Everlife helped set the style for Hannah's rock-pop sound. The album ends with "I Learned From You," a country pop duet by Miley Cyrus and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. A special two-disc edition of the album was released later. It included the song "Nobody's Perfect". This song was also on the next soundtrack, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus (2007).
Hit Songs (Singles)

The show's theme song, "The Best of Both Worlds", was the first song released from the album. It came out on March 28, 2006. This song reached number 92 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Promoting the Album
The album was promoted in a few ways. Miley Cyrus first performed live as Hannah Montana during The Cheetah Girls' Party's Just Begun Tour in 2006 and 2007. She was one of the opening acts for their concerts.
Later, Miley Cyrus went on her own big tour called the Best of Both Worlds Tour in 2007 and 2008. This tour mainly promoted her next album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus (2007). However, she also sang popular songs from the first Hannah Montana soundtrack. These included "Just Like You," "Pumpin' Up the Party," "I Got Nerve," and "The Best of Both Worlds." The tour was very successful, making $54 million. A movie about the tour, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, made $63 million.
