This means it sold a lot of copies! When he was fifteen, he started working on his own music. He worked with a local band and his managers. They helped him create his first album, Beautiful Soul.
Jesse released his first solo collection of songs, called an EP, in July 2003. It had three songs: "Beautiful Soul", "Don't You", and "Why Don't You Kiss Her". In 2004, he sang a duet with Anne Hathaway. The song was "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". It was on the soundtrack for the movie Ella Enchanted.
Beautiful Soul and Right Where You Want Me (2004–2006)

Beautiful Soul reached number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album has sold over one million copies in the US. This makes it his highest-selling album. By mid-2006, it had sold more than 1.5 million copies.
The main song from the album, "Beautiful Soul", reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Jesse won several awards at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards. It was included on some versions of his Departure album.

Jesse released his third album, Departure, on May 20, 2008. This album was different from his earlier music. It had more mature themes. It reached number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart.
