Hannut (pronounced like "ah-nyoo") is a city in Belgium. It is located in the Wallonia region. You can find it in the province of Liège.

In 2006, about 14,291 people lived in Hannut. The city covers an area of about 86.53 square kilometers. This means about 165 people live in each square kilometer.

Hannut is made up of several smaller towns and villages. These include Abolens, Avernas-le-Bauduin, Avin, Bertrée, Blehen, Cras-Avernas, Crehen, Grand-Hallet, Lens-Saint-Remy, Merdorp, Moxhe, Petit-Hallet, Poucet, Thisnes, Trognée, Villers-le-Peuplier, and Wansin.

Hannut is famous for the Battle of Hannut. This battle started on May 12, 1940. It was the first big battle between tanks in World War II. The city also has a fun water park. You can visit many old castles and a few interesting museums here. The city center has lots of restaurants to enjoy.
