Discovering the Park's History
How the Park Was Created
This park was officially started in 2007. It became a park through a land exchange with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The park was developed together with the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park. Both parks work to teach people about Harriet Tubman's legacy.
Exploring the Harriet Tubman Byway
The state park is the starting point for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway. This byway is a special route that is about 125 miles long. It is also known as an All-American Road. This byway helps visitors follow the path of freedom that Harriet Tubman and others took.
The Visitor Center Experience
A very important part of the park is the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center. This center opened its doors on March 11, 2017. It offers exhibits and information about Harriet Tubman's life. Visitors can learn about her incredible courage and her fight for freedom.
