Harry Bluestone (born September 30, 1907 – died December 22, 1992) was a talented musician. He was an English-American composer and violinist. Harry wrote music for many TV shows and movies.

He worked a lot with another composer named Emil Cadkin. Before becoming a famous composer, Harry played the violin. He performed on the radio in the 1930s. He played with famous bands like Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and the Dorsey Brothers. You can still hear some of his music today through APM Music.

Early Life and Music Journey

Harry Bluestone was born in England on September 30, 1907. He moved to New York when he was a young boy. Harry started playing the violin at a very young age. He was so good that he performed a difficult violin concert when he was only seven years old!

As a teenager, Harry traveled to Paris. He went with a small jazz group. They played music for the singer Josephine Baker. Harry later studied at the Institute of Musical Art. This school is now known as the Juilliard School. In the 1930s, he played violin on many radio shows. He performed with popular musicians like Bix Beiderbecke and Red Nichols.

A Career in Hollywood and Beyond

In 1935, Harry Bluestone moved to Hollywood. He joined the Lennie Hayton Orchestra. This orchestra became the first one to play on the radio show Your Hit Parade. Harry even had his own 15-minute radio show. He also recorded music for Brunswick Records. Later, he became the main violinist, or concertmaster, for Paramount Studios.

During World War II, Harry joined the Air Force in 1942. He became a Master Sergeant. He helped organize the Army Air Force Orchestra. This orchestra even took over from the famous Glenn Miller's band.

After the war, Harry started his own orchestra. They played music for singers like Jo Stafford and Dinah Shore. He also worked in the music library business. He helped manage music for Standard Transcriptions. Harry discovered the singer Robert Clary while recording in France. Robert Clary later became an actor on the TV show Hogan's Heroes.

Harry spent the rest of his life creating music companies. He wrote music and conducted orchestras. He was often the "first chair" violinist. This means he was the lead violinist in many recordings. He worked on hundreds of albums for many famous artists. These included the Beach Boys, Peggy Lee, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, and even the Beatles. He played on their famous album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In the 1980s, Harry also wrote books about playing the violin, guitar, and trumpet.

Harry Bluestone lived with his wife, "Le Bluestone." He passed away in 1992.
