Harvey is a community in Marquette County, Michigan. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the government for collecting population data.
In 2020, about 3,244 people lived in Harvey. This number grew quite a bit from 2010, when there were 1,393 residents. The U.S. Census Bureau made the CDP area larger, which helped explain this growth. Harvey is part of two townships: Chocolay and Sands.
Harvey was first called "Harvey Location." It's a suburb located southwest of Marquette. It sits where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 41 and M-28.

Geography of Harvey
Harvey is located in the eastern part of Marquette County. To its northwest is the city of Marquette. To the northeast, it borders Lake Superior, a very large lake.
The Chocolay River forms part of Harvey's eastern border. This river flows into Lake Superior. The total area of Harvey is about 7.31 square miles (18.93 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 6.74 square miles (17.45 square kilometers). The rest, about 0.57 square miles (1.48 square kilometers), is water.
Major Roads in Harvey
Two main highways, US 41 and M-28, go through Harvey. They join together in the middle of town. From there, they head northwest about 5 miles (8 km) to the center of Marquette.
If you take US 41 southeast, you can travel about 52 miles (84 km) to Gladstone. If you go east on M-28, you will reach Munising after about 38 miles (61 km).
