Haslet is a city in Texas, USA. It is mostly in Tarrant County and a small part is in Denton County. Haslet is part of the big Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex area. It is about 15 miles north of downtown Fort Worth and 20 miles south of Denton. Major roads like Interstate 35W and U.S. Highway 287 are nearby. The Alliance Airport is also very close. In 2020, about 1,952 people lived in Haslet.

History of Haslet

Haslet began to be settled around 1880. A real community likely started in 1883. This was when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway built its tracks through the area. The railroad's contractor was from a town called Haslett, Michigan. That's how Haslet, Texas, got its name!

A post office opened in Haslet in 1887. By 1896, the local school had one teacher and 21 students. The population was small, with 67 people in 1903 and 50 in 1915. In the 1920s, Haslet had a few stores. These included three grocery stores, a hardware store, and a dry goods store. There was also a cotton gin, which is a machine that separates cotton fibers from their seeds.

Haslet is located in Texas. The city has a total area of about 8.94 square miles (23.16 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area is water. Haslet is about 702 feet (214 meters) above sea level.
