Hazard is a small, quiet place in Spokane County, Washington. It is an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it is managed by the larger county.
Where is Hazard?
Hazard is located in a farming area called the Wild Rose Prairie. This area is in the northern part of Spokane County. It sits between a major road, U.S. Route 395, and the border of Stevens County. The county line is only about one mile west of Hazard.
There isn't a main town center in Hazard. You will mostly see farms with houses and buildings spread out far apart. Hazard is about 12 miles northeast of the big city of Spokane.
A Bit of History
Hazard got its name from a local business owner named R. R. Hazard. A post office was opened here in 1885. It helped people send and receive mail for almost 20 years. The post office closed down in 1904.
