He Pingping (born 13 July 1988 – died 13 March 2010) was a Chinese man. He was once known as the world's shortest person who could move around. The famous Guinness World Records recognized him for his unique height.

He Pingping's Early Life
He Pingping was born on 13 July 1988. He was the third child in his family. His family lived in Huade county, which is in the city of Ulanqab in northern China. This area is part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
His Sisters and Birth
Pingping had two older sisters. Both of his sisters grew at a normal rate. When Pingping was born, his father, He Yun, said he was small enough to fit in his parents' hands.
A Special Condition
As Pingping grew, his parents noticed he was growing very slowly. Doctors later found out he had a bone condition called osteogenesis imperfecta. This condition affects how bones grow and can stop a person from reaching a typical height.
Becoming World Famous
He Pingping became very well-known because of his height. He was measured at 74 centimeters (about 2 feet 5 inches) tall.
Meeting the Tallest Man
In January 2007, Pingping was invited to a TV show in Tokyo, Japan. His home region, Inner Mongolia, was also home to Bao Xishun. Bao Xishun was recognized by Guinness as the world's tallest man at 2.36 meters (about 7 feet 9 inches) tall.
Their meeting in July 2007 was shown on TV and caught the attention of people all over the world. It was amazing to see the world's shortest and tallest men together!
TV Shows and Public Appearances
In May 2008, Pingping was in a British TV show called The World's Smallest Man and Me. The show was on Channel 4. In this episode, Pingping and his family spent time with the host, Mark Dolan. They even celebrated Chinese New Year together.
In September 2008, Pingping appeared in London's Trafalgar Square. He was there with Svetlana Pankratova, who had the world's longest legs. They helped promote the 2009 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Guinness World Records Verification
Guinness World Records officially checked Pingping's height in 2008. They measured him three times over 10 hours. After this, Pingping received a certificate. This certificate officially named him the world’s shortest man.
In September 2007, Pingping traveled to New York City in the U.S. He helped launch the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. This book confirmed his title as the world's smallest man.
The Amazing Race
On 25 April 2010, Pingping was featured in an episode of the American reality show The Amazing Race. This episode was filmed in Shanghai for the show's 16th season. The episode was later dedicated to his memory.
His Passing
He Pingping passed away on 13 March 2010. He was only 21 years old.
Hospital Stay
On 3 March 2010, Pingping was taken to a hospital in Rome, Italy. He had been filming a TV show called Lo show dei record when he started having chest pains.
Cause of Death
Pingping died 10 days later from heart problems. Craig Glenday, the editor-in-chief for Guinness World Records, spoke about Pingping. He said that Pingping was "an inspiration to anyone considered different or unusual."
