Heather Taylor is a Canadian writer and director. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta. Heather studied music, acting, and writing. She learned these skills in western Canada and in London, England.

Heather Taylor's Creative Journey
Heather Taylor is known for her work in poetry, theatre, film, and television. She has created many interesting projects. Her career shows how she uses different ways to tell stories.
Poetry and Live Performances
In the UK, Heather performed her poetry at many places. These included the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Glastonbury Festival. She also performed at the Arnolfini Gallery and The Guardian Newsroom. These performances were part of a project to remember Ken Saro-Wiwa.
From 2005 to 2007, Heather toured a show called Accents on Words. She performed this poetry and music show with Aoife Mannix. They performed at The British Library and in India with the British Council. In December 2007, Heather took part in the first Belgrade International Poetry Festival.
Heather also worked on poetry projects with young girls and the Women's Library. She has written two full poetry books. These are Horizon & Back (2005) and Sick Day Afternoons (2009).
Theatre and Radio Plays
As a writer for plays, Heather Taylor's work has been shown in London. Her plays were performed at places like the Tricycle Theatre and Soho Theatre. She earned a Master's degree in Creative Writing from City University. Her play Prisms was featured on Resonance FM radio in December 2010.
Film and Television Projects
In 2008, Heather Taylor helped write a film called The Last Thakur. This movie was a co-production with Channel 4. Critics liked the film a lot. Sight & Sound magazine praised it as a strong first film.
The Last Thakur was shown at many film festivals. These included the London Film Festival and the Dubai International Film Festival. It was released in UK cinemas in June 2009.
Heather also produced and co-directed a short documentary. It was called Wild West Dream. This film was shown at the Atlantic Film Festival in 2009.
In 2011, Heather created a web series called Raptured. She also released a food series, Home Baked Stories, in 2012.
Heather wrote and directed the short horror film Stitched in 2016. It was noted as one of the cool things at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. She then wrote and directed Pay to Stay, which premiered in 2019.
From 2018 to 2019, Heather was part of the Bell Media Prime Time TV Program. This program helps train TV professionals.
Podcasts and Recent Work
Heather co-created a podcast called Anomaly with Hillary Nussbaum. Their company, Cereal Made, produced it. The podcast was recognized by The Gotham Film & Media Institute in 2020. In 2021, Anomaly was chosen for the Tribeca Festival's first podcast program.
In 2022, Heather co-created another podcast, Braaains, with her sister, Sarah Taylor. This podcast explores how our brains work. It also looks at how films and TV shows show mental health.
Heather was a story editor for the second season of The Hardy Boys (2020 TV series). She co-wrote two episodes: "Conflicting Reports" and "A Midnight Scare". She and Laura Seaton were nominated for a Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award in 2023.
In 2022, Heather was a TV fellow with the RespectAbility Entertainment Lab. This program supports entertainment professionals with disabilities.
Heather wrote and directed "Breaking Up". This was an episode of James Kim's podcast, You Feeling This. The podcast series premiered at The Tribeca Festival in 2023.
In December 2024, Heather's first audiobook, Know Your Newlywed, was published. She co-wrote it with Hillary Nussbaum. Audible chose it as one of the best romance audiobooks of 2024.
Community Involvement
Heather Taylor also has a history of community work. In 2011, she helped organize the cleanup in Clapham Junction. This was after the London Riots. She led a group known as the Broom Army. For her efforts, she received a Wandsworth Community Champion award.
