Hemley is a small village located in the county of Suffolk, England. It is part of the East Suffolk area. A village is a small community, and a civil parish is a local area with its own council.
Hemley is found close to the River Deben, which is a beautiful river in Suffolk. Nearby, you can find the larger town of Ipswich. There are also smaller villages like Waldringfield and Newbourne not far away.
In 2001, a count of people called a census showed that 66 people lived in Hemley. By 2011, the population was still less than 100. Because it's so small, Hemley's population figures are now often counted together with the nearby village of Newbourne.
Hemley's History
Hemley has a long history, like many places in England. For many years, from 1974 to 2019, Hemley was part of an area known as the Suffolk Coastal district. This district was responsible for local services and decisions.
All Saints' Church
One of the most important historical buildings in Hemley is All Saints' Church. This church was built a very long time ago, in the 14th century. That means it's over 600 years old!
The church is considered a Grade II* listed building. This special status means it's a very important historical building that needs to be protected. It shows how old and special the church is.
