Dame Henrietta Louise Moore (born on May 18, 1957) is a British social anthropologist. This means she is a scientist who studies human societies and cultures.
She is the director of the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity at University College, London (UCL). This institute works to find ways to make life better for people all over the world. It is part of the Bartlett, which is UCL's faculty focused on how we build and shape our environment.

Early Life and Education
Henrietta Moore started her university journey at Durham University. In 1979, she earned a good degree in Archaeology and Anthropology.
She then continued her studies at Newnham College, Cambridge. There, she worked hard and completed her PhD degree in 1983.
Career Highlights
After finishing her studies, Henrietta Moore worked for the United Nations for one year. She was a Field Director in Burkina Faso, helping with important projects.
She then became a Curatorial Assistant at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Cambridge. Later, in 1985, she started teaching Social Anthropology at the University of Kent.
Teaching at Cambridge
Moore returned to University of Cambridge as a lecturer. She became the Director of Studies in Anthropology at Girton College. In 1989, she became a Fellow at Pembroke College.
She also held several important teaching positions in Social Anthropology at the London School of Economics. Later, she became the William Wyse Chair of Social Anthropology at Cambridge University. In 2009, she was made a Professorial Fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge.
Work Beyond Academia
Dame Henrietta Moore has also shared her knowledge outside of universities. She is the Chair and Co-Founder of SHM Group. This is a company that helps organizations manage big changes.

Henrietta Moore has received many honors for her important work.
Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire
In 2016, she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE). This is a very high honor given in the United Kingdom. She received it for her great contributions to the social sciences.
Fellow of the British Academy
In 2007, she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy. This means she is recognized as one of the top experts in her field in the UK.
Herskovits Prize
In 1995, Moore and Megan Vaughan won the Herskovits Prize. This award is given by the African Studies Association. They won it for their book, Cutting Down Trees: Gender, Nutrition, and Agricultural Change in the Northern Province of Zambia, 1890-1990.
Honorary Degree
In 2014, Queen's University Belfast gave Moore an honorary degree. This is a special degree given to people who have achieved great things.
