Hera Hilmarsdóttir (born December 27, 1988), known as Hera Hilmar, is an actress from Iceland. She started acting when she was a child and has been in movies and TV shows since 1995.

About Hera Hilmar
Hera comes from a family of artists! Her dad, Hilmar Oddsson, is a film director, and her mom, Thorey Sigthorsdottir, is an actress. Her grandfather, Oddur Björnsson, was also famous for writing plays and directing theater.
Hera studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, finishing her studies in 2011.
Hera's Acting Career
Hera's talent was noticed early in her career. In 2007, she was nominated for an Edda Award (a big award in Iceland) for her main role in the movie The Quiet Storm.
Winning Awards and Recognition
Hera won the Edda Award for Best Leading Actress two times!
- In 2015, she won for her role as Eik in the movie Life in a Fishbowl.
- In 2017, she won again for her role as Anna in The Oath.
In 2015, Hera was also chosen as one of Europe's "Shooting Stars" at the Berlin International Film Festival. She also received a special mention at the Zurich Film Festival for her work in Life in a Fishbowl.

In 2013, Hera joined the TV series Da Vinci's Demons. She played Vanessa Moschella, a lively barmaid in Florence who sometimes modeled for the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci.
Hera has acted in many different types of movies:
- In 2015, she was in the historical drama The Ottoman Lieutenant, playing Lillie Rowe, a young nurse.
- Around the same time, she played Tanja, a Serbian agent, alongside actor Ben Kingsley in the film An Ordinary Man.

Mortal Engines and See
In 2017, Hera got a big role in the movie Mortal Engines, which was based on a popular book by Philip Reeve. The movie's writer, Philippa Boyens, said Hera's audition was "flawless." Hera played the main character, Hester Shaw, who is a strong hero in the story. She worked hard to understand the complex world of the movie during filming in 2017.
In 2018, Hera was cast in the TV series The Romanoffs. Later that year, she joined the Apple TV+ series See. In See, she plays Maghra, the wife of Baba Voss, a character played by Jason Momoa.
Recent Work
During the pandemic in 2020, Hera worked on two short films in Iceland: Last Dance and Óskin (which means "The Wish"). She also played the main role of Helga in the movie A Letter from Helga. In 2024, Hera starred in a Canadian thriller film called Hangashore.
