Hermon covers a total area of about 36.81 square miles (95.34 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. The town has several important water bodies. These include Hermon Pond, which is quite large at 462 acres. Tracy Pond (47 acres) and George Pond (49 acres) are also found here. Two streams, Souadabscook Stream and Wheeler Stream, flow through the town.
Hermon is surrounded by other towns. To the northwest, you'll find Levant. Glenburn is to the northeast. To the east is the city of Bangor. Hampden is to the south, and Carmel is to the west. Major roads like U.S. Route 2 and Maine State Route 222 pass through Hermon.
History: Hermon's Old Schoolhouse
Hermon has a special historic building called the District No. 5 Schoolhouse. It was built in 1880. This old schoolhouse is so important that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized for its historical value.
