About Hiba Al Kawas
Hiba Al Kawas was born in Sidon, Lebanon, on July 17, 1972. She grew up in a Sunni Muslim family.
Her Musical Journey
As a Composer
Hiba Al Kawas has written many musical pieces. She has recorded 21 of her own songs with the Dnipropetrovsk Symphony Orchestra in Ukraine. She also recorded 10 pieces with the Kraków Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
In 2000, she took part in the Kraków Contemporary Composition Festival. Her piece Aspiration No.1 was played there. Later, her composition Moments in Krakow had its first performance at the same festival. Her orchestral work, Pleusis 1, has been played by many famous orchestras. These include the City of London Sinfonia and the Bolshoi State Theatre Symphony Orchestra.
On October 14, 2007, her composition Rou'ia fi Maa was first performed in Paris. This work included five instrumental pieces and three songs. These songs were based on Arabic poems. In November 2007, a short musical film called Noor - Lady Light was made. It used Hiba Al Kawas' song Asra Biqalbi.
As a Concert Artist
Hiba Al Kawas has performed at many important events. She sang at the opening of the Tyre festival in Lebanon. She also performed at the Al-Medina Festival in Tunis.
On November 30, 2006, Hiba Al Kawas performed with José Carreras in Dubai. They sang together at an event for the Dubai International Financial Centre. She sang her own songs and a duet with Carreras. They performed "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera.
On February 19, 2007, Al Kawas sang her compositions in Paris. She dedicated her song O Liban soit sauvé! to President Jacques Chirac. This song also honored the memory of Rafic Hariri. On April 2, 2008, Al Kawas closed the 5th Abu Dhabi Music and Art Festival. She performed with the Bolshoi Theatre Symphony Orchestra.

Hiba Al Kawas has received many awards for her work:
- On January 22, 2007, she received The Golden Order of Sultan Qaboos for Culture, Science and Art. This was from Sultān Qaboos bin Said al Said.
- In July 2003, a postage stamp with her picture and name was released in Lebanon.
- She received the Lebanon Creativity Award in 2003.
- She was given the Seal Of Beirut in 2001.
- She received the Seal of the American University of Beirut Alumni in 1998.
