Where is Higden?

Higden is in the western part of Cleburne County. It sits on the south and west sides of Greers Ferry Lake. This lake is a large reservoir built on the Little Red River.

Arkansas Highways 16 and 92 run along the southern edge of Higden. These highways cross the lake at a spot called The Narrows. This connects Higden to Greers Ferry, which is on the east side of the lake.

The United States Census Bureau says that Higden covers about 1.2 square kilometers (0.49 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the town limits.

Before Greers Ferry Lake was created, the town of Higden had to move to a higher hill. Some local people say that parts of the old town, including homes and buildings, are still underwater in the lake today!
