Highland Lake is a beautiful body of water in New Hampshire, USA. It covers about 697 acres, which is a bit like 500 football fields! You can find it in Sullivan and Cheshire counties. The lake is located near the towns of Washington and Stoddard.

About Highland Lake
Highland Lake has two main ways for water to flow out. The north outlet feeds into Shedd Brook. The south outlet flows through Island Pond and then into the North Branch of the Contoocook River. Both of these water paths eventually meet up again in the town of Hillsborough.
The northern part of the lake is a bit tricky to reach. You can only get there by boat through a narrow channel. This channel is about 50 feet wide.

Highland Lake is a very popular spot for outdoor activities. People have been enjoying it since before the 1960s!
Summer Activities
During the warmer months, many people come to the lake for boating. You'll often see waterskiers zipping across the water. Sometimes, you might even spot a seaplane landing or taking off! Most of the homes around the lake are used for vacations or year-round living.
Highland Lake Marina
The only place on the lake where you can get boat services is the Highland Lake Marina. It's located at the end of Shedd Hill Road. The marina is open on summer weekends. It offers places to store your boat, docks for tying up, and fun stuff for sale. There's even a diner attached where you can grab a bite to eat!
Winter Fun
When the lake freezes over in winter, it becomes a great place for snowmobiling. It's a fun way to explore the snowy landscape.

Highland Lake is known as a warmwater fishery. This means it's a good home for many types of fish that like warmer water.

Protecting the Land
