History
Hobson's history is closely tied to Fort Ruby. This fort was built in 1862. Its main job was to protect a vital route called the Overland Trail.
The Overland Trail was a super important path. It connected California with the Union States. This was especially crucial during the American Civil War. Fort Ruby was strategically placed. It stood at the eastern entrance of the Overland Pass. This pass led right into the Ruby Valley. Soldiers at the fort kept travelers safe.
