Hollabrunn is an important town in Austria. It is the capital of the Hollabrunn district. This town is located in the state of Lower Austria, right on the Göllersbach river. Hollabrunn is in the middle of the Weinviertel, which is Austria's largest wine-growing region.

History of Hollabrunn
Early Settlements
People first started living around Hollabrunn a very long time ago. This was during the neolithic period, also known as the New Stone Age. This time was when humans began farming and building permanent homes.
Around 300 BC, a significant city existed near Hollabrunn. This city belonged to the La Tène culture. The La Tène culture was an important part of the Iron Age in Europe. This ancient city was located on the southern slopes of Sandberg hill, near the village of Platt.
Napoleonic Wars
Hollabrunn and its nearby areas saw several battles during the Napoleonic Wars. These were major wars fought in Europe in the early 1800s.
Battle of Schöngrabern (1805)
On November 16, 1805, a battle took place near the town of Schöngrabern. This was during the War of the Third Coalition. French troops, led by Joachim Murat, fought against Russian forces. The Russian general Pyotr Bagration was protecting the retreat of General Kutuzov's army. This retreat was happening as Kutuzov moved north towards the Battle of Austerlitz.
Battles of Hollabrunn (1809)
Almost four years later, in 1809, Hollabrunn saw more fighting. This was during the War of the Fifth Coalition.
- Battle of Hollabrunn: On July 9, 1809, a battle happened after the battle of Wagram. This was a rearguard action. An Austrian army group, led by Johann von Klenau, fought against parts of the French army. The French forces were under the command of André Masséna.
- Combat of Schöngrabern: The very next day, on July 10, 1809, the fighting continued. This rearguard combat took place again at Schöngrabern.
