History of Holy Trinity Church
How the Church Started
Back in 1818, a special law helped build new churches in Leicester. Holy Trinity was one of these churches. It was first built in 1838. The city was growing, and this church became part of a new area. It was created from a part of the St Mary de Castro Church area.
Changes to the Building
In 1872, the church was completely changed. An architect named Samuel Sanders Teulon redesigned it. He used a style called High Gothic. This included a tall spire and side towers. The church was built with red-purple bricks and decorated with limestone.
In the 1800s, the church had wooden seats and a single path down the middle. There were balconies on both sides. People from the middle class sat in the main area. Their servants sat in the balconies. You could enter the main floor through the front door. The balconies had their own side entrances.

Modern Updates to the Church
Between 2018 and 2019, the church had a big building project. They changed the inside of the church a lot. This included the main worship area and the entrance. The entrance now has a coffee house. The existing balcony was made bigger, and new stairs were added. The stage area was also updated.
Special Features Inside
The wall at the front of the church has five arched stained glass windows. These windows show modern designs from a Bible story called "The Parable of The Sower" (you can read about it in Matthew 13:1-24). Above these, there is a more traditional flower design. This design includes a symbol of the Trinity. There are also smaller windows that say "The Truth" and "The Life." However, there isn't a window for "The Way" (from John 14:6). The marble wall at the front also shows a picture of the Last Supper.
The large pipe organ was moved to a church in Poland in 2020. The church and nearby buildings are now part of a special protected area called the New Walk conservation area.

What HTL Church Does
HTL Church is a "Mission-Shaped" church. This means its members belong to smaller groups called "Missional Communities." These groups are based on where people live, their friends, or their interests. HTL Church says its main goal is "Following Jesus, Making Disciples, Raising Disciples." This means they want to help people learn about Jesus and grow in their faith.
Who Attends HTL Church
The church community includes people of all ages. Many children and young people attend. There are also many university students. HTL Church is also connected with a Christian group called New Wine.
The church helps people in the local community in Leicester. They have a program called "Triangle" that helps people who are homeless. HTL Church also offers the Alpha course throughout the year. This course helps people explore the Christian faith.
Services and Online Presence
The morning church services are for families. They have music played by a live band. The evening services often attract more students and young adults. All the services are streamed live online on YouTube and Facebook.
