Hopkinton village is located on the western side of Washington County. It sits in the west-central part of the larger town of Hopkinton. The western edge of the village touches the state line of Connecticut.

You can travel through Hopkinton on Rhode Island Route 3. This road goes northeast about 4 miles to Hope Valley. Hope Valley is the biggest village in the town of Hopkinton. Route 3 also goes south about 3 miles to Ashaway, which is the second largest village.

A major highway, Interstate 95, also runs through the southeast part of Hopkinton. You can get onto I-95 from Exit 1, which is on Route 3. This highway can take you northeast about 36 miles to Providence, the capital city of Rhode Island. If you go southwest on I-95, it's about 19 miles to New London, Connecticut.
