Horseshoe Creek is a small stream located in the U.S. state of Missouri. It flows through parts of Jackson and Lafayette counties. This creek is a branch, or tributary, of a larger stream called Sni-A-Bar Creek.

Where Does Horseshoe Creek Start?
Horseshoe Creek begins in the western part of Lafayette County. Its starting point, called the headwaters, is right next to Missouri Route TT. You can find this spot at coordinates 38°58′05″N 94°04′57″W.
How Does Horseshoe Creek Flow?
When the creek first starts, it flows towards the southeast. Then, it makes a big, wide curve that looks like a horseshoe! After this turn, it changes direction and flows north. It runs mostly alongside the border between Lafayette and Jackson counties.
The creek passes between two towns: Oak Grove and Bates City. It also flows underneath Interstate 70, which is a major highway.
Where Does Horseshoe Creek End?
After flowing north, Horseshoe Creek turns west and enters Jackson County. It then joins Sni-A-Bar Creek about two miles north of Interstate 70. This meeting point, where two streams join, is called a confluence. Its coordinates are 39°02′29″N 94°06′50″W.
Why Is It Called Horseshoe Creek?
The creek gets its name "Horseshoe" because of its many curves and bends. These curves are called meanders. When you look at the creek's path on a map, all these turns make it look like the shape of a horseshoe!
