The House of Évreux was an important family of nobles and kings. It was a smaller part of the Capetian dynasty, which was the main royal family of France. The House of Évreux was powerful from the early 1300s to the mid-1400s. It also became the royal family that ruled the Kingdom of Navarre.
The House of Évreux was started by Louis, Count of Évreux. He was the third son of Philip III of France, a French king. Louis's mother was Marie of Brabant. Louis's son, Philip, married Joan II of Navarre. Philip became the first King of Navarre from the Évreux family.
Louis's younger son, Charles, did not have any grandchildren. The Évreux family line ended when Blanche I of Navarre died in 1441.
