Hubei (Chinese: 湖北) is a province in the People's Republic of China. The name of the province means "north of the lake," which refers to Lake Dongting. The capital city of Hubei is Wuhan.
Where is Hubei?
Hubei is located in the central part of China. It shares its borders with several other important areas. To the north, Hubei is next to the Henan province. To the northeast, you'll find Anhui. The province of Jiangxi is to Hubei's southeast, and Hunan is to its south. To the southwest, Hubei borders Chongqing, which is a large city with a special status like a province. Finally, to the northwest, Hubei is next to Shaanxi.
