History of Hudson
People first started settling in the area around 1800. In 1824, it became a "plantation," which is like an early form of a town. It was called "Jackson," possibly named after Andrew Jackson, who later became a U.S. President.
Just one year later, in 1825, it officially became a town and was named "Kirkland." Finally, in 1854, the town's name was changed to "Hudson." It was named after Hudson, Massachusetts. Interestingly, Hudson, Massachusetts, didn't become an official town until 1866.

- Maxwell Anderson was a famous American playwright and screenwriter. He wrote plays like What Price Glory? and Key Largo. He also helped write the movie All Quiet on the Western Front. Maxwell Anderson won a Pulitzer Prize for his work. He owned a vacation home in Hudson.
