Hukum Singh (born April 5, 1938 – died February 3, 2018) was an important Indian politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Kairana in Uttar Pradesh. He was a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As an MP, he was part of a group called the Panel of Chairpersons of the 16th Lok Sabha. He also led the Standing Committee on Water Resources.

About Hukum Singh
Hukum Singh was born on April 5, 1938, in a place called Kairana. His parents were Maan Singh and Leelavati. He studied at Allahabad University. There, he earned degrees in Arts and Law.
Family Life
Hukum Singh married Rewati Devi on June 13, 1958. They had five daughters together. He passed away on February 3, 2018. He died in a hospital in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, after having trouble breathing.
Political Journey
Before becoming an MP, Hukum Singh was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. This is like a state-level parliament. He was elected seven times between 1974 and 2014. He also served as a Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh. He worked for both the BJP and the Congress parties.
Education and Early Career
Hukum Singh was a law graduate from Allahabad University. In 1963, he passed exams to become a judge. However, he chose a different path.
Joining the Army
After the 1962 Indo-China war, he joined the Indian Army. He became a Commissioned Officer. He even fought in the 1965 war against Pakistan. He served as a captain in the Poonch area in Kashmir. He left the army in 1969.
Entering Politics
Hukum Singh started his political career in 1974. He first became an MLA with the Congress party. He won the Assembly elections seven times. From 1983 to 1985, he was the deputy speaker of the Assembly. He won his fourth term as an MLA in 1996, this time with the BJP. In 2014, he won his first election to the Lok Sabha, which is India's main parliament.
Work in Parliament
Hukum Singh grew up with a farmer father. This helped him understand problems faced by farmers. He also cared about education and building better facilities.

He often spoke in parliament, asking many questions. He wanted to bring attention to issues affecting people in his area. He participated in more debates than most other MPs.
