History of Hurdland
Hurdland was officially planned and marked out in 1872. This happened when the railroad reached that area. The town got its name from John Hurd, who owned the land where the city was built. A post office has been open in Hurdland since 1872, helping people send and receive mail.
Geography and Location
Hurdland is located in Missouri. It is about 6.5 miles west of Edina. It is also four miles east of Brashear. The city covers a total area of about 0.33 square miles (0.86 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Arts and Culture in Hurdland
Hurdland is famous for its Fourth of July celebration. This event is the oldest annual Independence Day party in northeast Missouri. It is also one of the oldest in the entire state. The first celebration happened in 1873. This festival lasts for two days. It features live music, fun games, and talent shows. The celebration ends with a big fireworks display.
