The Huron River is a beautiful river about 7.6 miles (12.2 kilometers) long. You can find it in the northern part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the United States. People often call it the Big Huron River. This helps tell it apart from the smaller Little Huron River nearby. There's also a much bigger Huron River located in Southeast Michigan.

Where the Huron River Flows
The Huron River has two main parts: an east branch and a west branch. Both of these branches start in L'Anse Township. This area is in eastern Baraga County. It's also southeast of Mount Arvon. The east branch even flows through a small part of Marquette County before returning to Baraga County.
The east and west branches meet up in Arvon Township. From there, the river flows a short distance into Lake Superior. This meeting point is just a few miles east of Huron Bay.
A River Untouched by Humans
What makes the Huron River special is how natural it is. Humans have barely changed or built anything along its banks. The river flows mostly through thick woodlands. You'll find many small waterfalls and fast-moving rapids along its path.
The National Park Service has even recognized the Huron River. They rank it very highly for its amazing scenery and interesting geology. It's truly a wild and beautiful place.
