Hussein bin Abdullah (born on June 28, 1994) is the Crown Prince of Jordan. He is the oldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. Hussein is a Major in the Jordanian Armed Forces. He has acted as a regent (someone who rules when the king is away) many times. He also travels with his father on important trips both in Jordan and to other countries. Hussein has spoken for Jordan at big international meetings. These include the United Nations Security Council and the World Economic Forum.
He started his schooling in Jordan. In 2016, he earned a degree in International History from Georgetown University. Early Life and School
Hussein was born on June 28, 1994, in Amman, Jordan. His parents were Prince Abdullah and Princess Rania. His father, Abdullah, met Rania in 1993, and they married six months later. Hussein was named after his grandfather, King Hussein.
The Hashemite family, to which Hussein belongs, has a long history. They are the oldest ruling family in the Muslim world. Hussein's paternal grandmother, Princess Muna, is from England and became a Muslim. His mother, Queen Rania, has Palestinian family roots.
Crown Prince Hussein is the oldest child of King Abdullah and Queen Rania. He has three younger siblings: Princess Iman, Princess Salma, and Prince Hashem. Hussein went to the International School of Choueifat and the International Amman Academy. He finished high school at King's Academy in 2012. He then studied International History at Georgetown University, graduating in 2016. In 2017, he graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He is now a major in the Jordanian Armed Forces.
Becoming Crown Prince

When King Hussein was alive, his younger brother, Prince Hassan, was expected to become king. But shortly before King Hussein passed away in 1999, he changed his mind. He chose Abdullah, Hussein's father, to be the next king.
When Abdullah became king, he first named his younger half-brother, Prince Hamzah, as the Crown Prince. However, on November 28, 2004, King Abdullah removed Hamzah from this role.
Jordan's laws state that the king's oldest son automatically becomes the next in line to the throne, unless the king says otherwise. So, Crown Prince Hussein became the heir as soon as his half-uncle, Hamzah, was no longer Crown Prince. On July 2, 2009, a royal order officially named Hussein as the Crown Prince.
Official Duties and Work

The role of the Crown Prince of Jordan is mostly ceremonial. This means it involves official events and representing the country, but it's not a political job. Hussein's first official duty was in June 2010. He represented his father at celebrations for the anniversary of the Arab Revolt.
Crown Prince Hussein has helped his father with both official and military tasks. He has also served as regent several times when the King was out of the country. Hussein leads the Crown Prince Foundation. This foundation runs a technical university and supports many science and humanitarian projects.
The foundation has started several important programs:
- Haqiq initiative: This program encourages young people to volunteer.
- NASA internship program: This allows young Jordanians to intern at NASA.
- MASAR initiative: This project encourages new ideas in space technology.
- Hearing Without Borders: This program helps fund cochlear implants for Jordanians who have hearing problems.
Students from the NASA program even built a small satellite called JY1. It was Jordan's first satellite and was launched from California in 2018.
In 2013, Crown Prince Hussein trained with Jordan's special forces. In 2014, he visited the King Hussein Medical Center. He met injured Palestinians who were receiving medical care there.
On April 23, 2015, Prince Hussein, then 20 years old, made history. He became the youngest person ever to lead a meeting of the UN Security Council. During the meeting, he led a discussion about how to stop young people from joining extremist groups. Ban Ki-moon, who was the head of the United Nations at the time, said Hussein was "already a leader in the 21st century."
In May 2017, Hussein gave a welcoming speech at the World Economic Forum. This event was held in Jordan, by the Dead Sea. In September 2017, after graduating from Sandhurst, he gave Jordan's speech at the UN General Assembly.
