The Hyson Green Baptist Church is a special building located on Palin Street in Hyson Green, Nottingham, England. It is known as a Grade II listed building. This means it's an important historical building that needs to be protected because of its special architecture or history.
History
The story of this church began in 1825. It was started because the Stoney Street Baptist Church had too many people. They needed a new place for their growing community to worship.
The building you see today on Palin Street was designed by an architect named John Wallis Chapman. It was built by J R Morrison of Hyson Green. The first foundation stones were placed on June 21, 1883.
The Baptist church used this building for about 100 years, until 1983. At that time, they moved to a new location on Raleigh Street. Later, in 2012, they moved again to an even larger church called Cornerstone Church (Nottingham) on Castle Boulevard.
Today, the original Palin Street building is used by another church group called the Assemblies of the First Born.
