History of the Church Building
Early Beginnings
The church community started in 1825. It was created because the Stoney Street Baptist Church had too many members. They needed more space for everyone.
Designing and Building
The building you see today on Palin Street was designed by an architect named John Wallis Chapman. A local builder, J R Morrison of Hyson Green, constructed it. The first foundation stones for the church were placed on June 21, 1883.
Changes Over Time
The Baptist church group used this building until 1983. At that time, they moved to a new and better location on Raleigh Street. Later, in 2012, they moved again to an even larger church called Cornerstone Church (Nottingham) on Castle Boulevard.
New Purpose for the Building
Today, the original Palin Street building is no longer used by the Baptist church. Instead, it is now home to another religious group called the Assemblies of the First Born.
