Ichihara (市原市, Ichihara-shi) is a Japanese city in Chiba Prefecture on the island of Honshū.
History
Ichihara is in the area of ancient Kazusa province.
2011 earthquake
On Friday, March 11, 2011, the Tōhoku earthquake caused damage in Ichihara. Natural gas storage tanks were set on fire by the earthquake.
Geography
Ichihara is on the east coast of Toyko bay. In other words, it is on the west coast of Bōsō Peninsula.
