Illia Mykolayovych Yemets (Ukrainian: Ілля Миколайович Ємець) was born on February 21, 1956. He is a Ukrainian doctor and a politician. He has served twice as the Minister of Healthcare for Ukraine.

Illia Yemets' Early Life and Education
Illia Yemets studied at the Kyiv Medical Institute. In 1979, he finished his studies. He earned a degree in Pediatrics, which means he became a doctor who specializes in caring for children. He also became a professor and earned a high degree in medical sciences.
Career as a Doctor
From 1985 to 2003, Illia Yemets worked as a special kind of doctor. He was a pediatric heart surgeon. This means he performed operations on the hearts of children. He also led a department at a big medical center. This center focused on heart and blood vessel surgery.
In 2003, he became the director of a special medical center. This center was for children's heart conditions and heart surgery. It was part of the Ministry of Healthcare.
Role as a Politician
Illia Yemets has served as the Minister of Healthcare for Ukraine two times. This role means he was in charge of all health-related matters for the country.
His first time as Minister was from December 2010 to May 2011. He was appointed again on March 4, 2020. However, Ukraine's Parliament decided he would no longer serve on March 30, 2020.
