Illia Mykolayovych Yemets (Ukrainian: Ілля Миколайович Ємець; born 21 February 1956) is a Ukrainian doctor and politician. He is well-known for his work as a heart surgeon, especially with children. He has also served twice as the Minister of Healthcare for Ukraine.

Early Life and Education
Illia Yemets was born on February 21, 1956. In 1979, he finished his studies at the Kyiv Medical Institute. He specialized in Pediatrics, which is the medical care of babies and children. He later earned a high degree called Doctor of Medical Sciences. He also became a professor.
A Career in Medicine
From 1985 to 2003, Dr. Yemets worked as a pediatric heart surgeon. This means he performed heart operations on children. He also led a department at the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. In 2003, he became the director of a special medical center. This center focuses on heart care and surgery for children in Ukraine. It is called the "Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery."
Serving as Minister
Dr. Yemets first became Ukraine's Minister of Healthcare in December 2010. He held this important job until May 2011. He was appointed Minister of Healthcare again on March 4, 2020. However, Ukraine's Parliament decided to dismiss him on March 30, 2020.
