Imri Ziv (Hebrew: אימרי זיו), born on September 12, 1991, is an Israeli singer and voice actor. Many people know him simply as Imri. He became famous after winning a TV singing competition called HaKokhav HaBa. This win allowed him to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv. He sang the song "I Feel Alive" and finished in 23rd place in the final competition.

About Imri Ziv
Early Life and Education
Imri Ziv was born in Hod HaSharon, Israel, on September 12, 1991. He went to Ilan Ramon High School. During his time in the military, he was part of a musical band. This band was part of the Education and Youth Corps Unit of the Israel Defense Forces. After his military service, he studied communication sciences at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.
Imri has a special talent for learning languages easily. He can speak fluent Spanish. He even speaks with an Argentinian accent. This is because his Spanish teacher was from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Starting His Music Career

In 2012, Imri tried out for the first season of The Voice Israel. He sang a song called "אהובתי". Two of the four judges, Sarit Hadad and Rami Kleinstein, chose him for their teams. Imri joined Team Rami. He later sang "פרפרים" in the Battle Rounds. However, his mentor Rami Kleinstein chose another singer, and Imri was eliminated.
Even though he didn't win The Voice, Imri continued his music journey. He became a backing vocalist for Israel's entries in the Eurovision Song Contest. He sang backup for Nadav Guedj in Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Nadav sang "Golden Boy". Imri also sang backup for Hovi Star in Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Hovi sang "Made of Stars". Both of these songs made it to the Eurovision finals.
In 2016, Imri also worked as a voice actor. He provided the Hebrew voice for a character in the 3D animated movie Trolls.
Winning HaKokhav HaBa and Eurovision 2017
In 2017, Imri decided to try out for HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion. This TV show is a singing competition. The winner gets to represent Israel at Eurovision. It is similar to the Rising Star TV show format.
During his audition, Imri sang "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga. He got a very high score of 93% from the public. All the judges, including Keren Peles and Harel Skaat, also approved of his performance.
In the quarter-finals, Imri sang "Rude Boy" by Rihanna. He received 72% of the public vote. In the semi-final, he sang "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. He got 95% of the votes and made it to the finals.
The final competition was on February 13, 2017. Imri first sang "Halo" by Beyoncé. He won 78% of the public's votes. Then, he sang "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson. He won the entire contest with 74% approval.
After winning HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion, Imri Ziv represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. His song was called "I Feel Alive". Dolev Ram and Penn Hazut wrote the song. It was released on March 9, 2017. At Eurovision, Imri finished third in the second semi-final. In the grand final, he placed 23rd.
