This community is situated just below the Long Lake Dam and above Fox Lake. Much of the Long Lake area, including Duck Lake, is part of Ingleside. The community also stretches northeast towards Lake Villa.

The dam helps control the water flow from Long Lake into Fox Lake. It also allows pleasure boats to travel from Long Lake to the wider Chain O'Lakes system.
