You can find these mountains and hills starting near Anderson, California, in the southern part of the High North Coast Ranges. From there, they extend southwards, reaching areas west of the Russian River. This makes them a key feature of the region's geography.
Plants and Trees of the Ranges
The plant life, also known as flora, in the Inner North Coast Ranges is quite special. A famous botanist named Willis Linn Jepson was one of the first scientists to study and describe the plants found here. He observed many interesting species. Among the notable trees he identified were the Yellow Pine (Pinus ponderosa) and the Sugar Pine (Pinus lambertiana).
