Irvine is a city in Estill County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Estill County. This means it's where the county government offices are located. In 2020, about 2,360 people lived there.

Where is Irvine Located?
Irvine is in the middle of Estill County. It is on the northeast side of the Kentucky River. The city of Ravenna is next to Irvine on its southeast side.
The city covers about 3.85 square kilometers (1.5 square miles). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water.
A Look Back: Irvine's History
The town of Irvine was started by Green Clay, a general, on January 28, 1812. He used about 20.5 acres of his own land to create the town. This happened four years after Estill County was formed from Madison County.
Irvine was named after Colonel William Irvine. He was an early settler in Madison County. The first post office in Irvine opened in 1813. The city officially became a city by the state government in 1849.
