Isabelle Harriet Lucas (born December 3, 1927 – died February 24, 1997) was a talented actress and singer. She was born in Canada but became a well-known British performer.

Isabelle Lucas's Acting Life

Isabelle Lucas was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father was a chef from Barbados. He worked on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Isabelle loved acting from a young age. She performed in plays as a teenager in Toronto.

Moving to London

In 1954, Isabelle moved to London, England. She had already performed in many amateur shows in Toronto. Her first big show in London was The Jazz Train in 1955. This was in the famous West End. She also acted in other plays like Walk a Crooked Mile (1959) and Funny Girl. During the 1950s and 1960s, she also appeared in films and on television. One film she was in was Miracle in Soho (1957).

TV Roles and Later Career

Isabelle Lucas got her first main TV role in a show called The Fosters. This show was on ITV from 1976 to 1977. It was the first British comedy show to have an all-Black cast. Isabelle played Pearl Foster, the wife of the main character.

After The Fosters, she appeared in other British dramas and films. In 1985, she had a role in the popular show EastEnders. In the late 1980s, she joined the BBC Schools' show You and Me. She was a presenter on this show until it ended in 1992. Isabelle also made guest appearances in May to December from 1989 to 1992. In 1989, she played Gertrude in the CBBC series Bluebirds. Her acting career ended in 1994 after she appeared in Mama Lou.

Isabelle Lucas passed away in 1997. She died after having a heart attack.
