Eduardo JV Arancillo Kapunan III (born July 23, 1990), known as Young JV or JV Kapunan, is a talented Filipino hip-hop artist, actor, and basketball player. He first became famous in 2009 with his hit song "That Girl," which he wrote himself. He released his first album, Ready or Not, with PolyEast Records and Doin' It Big Production. Young JV is also a regular performer on the TV show ASAP and was part of the all-male group A-pop. He is managed by ABS-CBN's Star Magic.

Young JV's Journey in Music and Acting

Young JV started his career on ASAP 09, performing with popular artists like Nikki Gil and Sarah Geronimo. His first single, "That Girl," quickly became a big hit on the radio. The music video for his song "Don't Know You" was directed by Treb Monteras III. His first album included a mix of fun party songs and inspiring stories.

Early Hits and Albums

In 2010, Young JV released another popular song called "Shake Shake." This song was even used as the official theme for a competition. The music video for "Shake Shake" showed a lively party scene.

In 2011, "Kaibigan Lang" was the last single from his first album. The video for this song was filmed at his college and featured other celebrities. Later that year, he released "Alay," a new song from his second album, where he worked with singer Akiko Solon. He also started acting, appearing in the romantic comedy movie Won't Last a Day Without You with Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson. He even performed as a special guest for the Irish band Westlife during their concert in the Philippines.

Acting Roles and Collaborations

In 2012, Young JV starred in the popular TV drama series Princess and I. He played Jonas de Ocampo, a character involved in a love triangle. On August 29, 2012, he released his second album, Doin' It Big, under Star Music. The main song from this album, "Your Name," featured Myrtle Sarrosa and was used in the movie 24/7 in Love. He also collaborated with artists like Karylle and Yeng Constantino on his album.

In 2013, Young JV performed at the opening night of the Himig Handog songwriting contest. He also announced a new song called "Ngiti" (meaning "smile"), featuring the famous singer Gary Valenciano. This song was part of a special re-release of his Doin' It Big album.

In 2015, he released "Ale," the first single from his third album, YJV. He also supported the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation by visiting projects and holding concerts. He actively promoted environmental protection with the "Green Thumb Coalition." Young JV also had many shows at SM Supermalls to promote his YJV album. His second single, "Flashback," featuring Emmanuelle, was launched on the radio and its music video premiered on MYX. In 2016, his third single, "Got To Have You," became popular on music charts. He also appeared in the ABS-CBN TV series Born For You as Mix. On August 27, 2016, Young JV released his new song "Pasa Diyos," featuring the well-known celebrity Vice Ganda. This song aims to be inspiring and is available on various music platforms.

In 2017, Star Magic started calling him JV Kapunan to highlight his acting career. He played Joshua, a "mole vampire" in the TV series La Luna Sangre. He was also part of Pusong Ligaw as Jake. Even with his acting, JV still loves writing, producing, and performing his own Filipino songs. He even composed the theme song for Star Magic's 25th Anniversary, "Ikaw ang Magic ng Buhay Ko."
