Ana Karylle Padilla Tatlonghari-Yuzon (born March 22, 1981), known as Karylle, is a talented Filipino singer and actress. She has achieved great success in theater, movies, and music. Karylle has won many awards, including four Awit Awards and an Asian Television Award. She has also been nominated for awards at the Monte Carlo Festival and New York Festivals.
Karylle grew up in Manila, Philippines. She started her career in theater musicals in 2000. She then took on many supporting roles in films and TV shows. Karylle became very famous after playing Sanggre Alena in the fantasy series Encantadia (2005). She continued her role in later sequels like Etheria (2005) and Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas (2006). She also appeared in the movie Mulawin: The Movie (2005).
In 2006, she starred in the hit film Moments of Love. Karylle returned to the stage in 2007 and 2008. She performed in Cat in the Hat and West Side Story, earning praise from critics. After moving to ABS-CBN, she appeared in TV shows like Nasaan Ka Maruja? (2009) and Dahil May Isang Ikaw (2009). The latter show was even nominated for an International Emmy Award.
In 2010, Karylle had a supporting role in the horror film Dalaw. The next year, she became a main host of the popular noontime show It's Showtime. Early Life and Education
Ana Karylle Padilla Tatlonghari was born on March 22, 1981, in Manila. Her mother is singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla. Her parents separated when she was six years old. Karylle has two half-sisters, Nicole and Zia Quizon.
Karylle went to O.B. Montessori Center – Greenhills for grade school. She was the top student in her class. She finished high school at Saint Pedro Poveda College. There, she received a Service Medal for her extra activities and volunteer work. Karylle started ballet lessons at age three and continued until she was fifteen. For college, she studied Management with a focus on Communications Technology at the Ateneo de Manila University. She was on the Dean's list and graduated in 2002.
Acting Career Highlights
Early Roles (2000–2004)
In 2000, Karylle started her acting journey in the musical Little Mermaid. She played Princess Sapphire in this Trumpets production. This role helped her begin her career in show business.
In 2001, Karylle started appearing on television. She became a co-host and performer on GMA Network's variety show SOP.
From 2002 to 2004, Karylle took on many supporting roles in movies and TV shows. Her first movie was Ang Agimat: Anting-anting ni Lolo in 2002. She also appeared in the drama series Twin Hearts. Producers were impressed with her and Dingdong Dantes, so her role was expanded. This led to more projects with Dantes, including Love to Love. For her role in Love to Love, she was nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress award. Karylle also appeared in two Mano Po movies in 2003 and 2004.
Breakthrough and New Network (2005–2009)
In 2005, Karylle starred in the horror film Bahay ni Lola 2. This was her first main role in a movie. She then became famous for her role as Sang'gre Alena in the fantasy drama Encantadia. This show was a huge success. Karylle played her role again in the sequel Etheria and the movie Mulawin: The Movie.
In 2006, Karylle had two big projects. She was in Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas, the third part of the Encantadia series. She also starred in the romantic film Moments of Love, which was a box office hit.
In 2007, Karylle appeared in two independent films: Ligaw Liham and Pi7ong Tagpo. She also helped produce Ligaw Liham. That year, she returned to the stage as the Cat in the Hat in Seussical.

In 2010, Karylle joined the cast of Gilda Olvidado's Magkano ang Iyong Dangal?. She also started as a judge on the noontime show Showtime. In December, she had a supporting role in the horror film Dalaw. This movie was very successful.
In 2011, Karylle became a regular host for Showtime. She gained international fame for her role in the Singaporean musical drama The Kitchen Musical. This show was shown in twelve countries. Karylle and the cast won a Bronze Medal for Best Performance at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. She was also nominated for Outstanding Actress at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

Music Career
In 2001, Karylle released her first album, Time to Shine. Her song "Can't Live Without You" won an Awit Award for Best New Female Recording Artist. It also won two MTV Pilipinas Music Awards. The album included songs with German singer Gil Ofarim and Ogie Alcasid. Her duet with Ogie Alcasid won Best Performance by a Duet.
In 2003, Karylle sang "Awit sa Ina ng Santo Rosario" with the group Bukas Palad Music Ministry. This religious song won Best Inspirational/Religious Recording.
In 2004, Karylle released "Pagbigyan ang Puso" with Jerome John Hughes. This song was the theme for her film Mano Po III: My Love. It won Best Original Theme Song at the 30th Metro Manila Film Festival.
In 2005, Karylle released her second album, You Make Me Sing. It included her own songs "Coz, I Love You" and "Hiling". It also featured "Mahiwagang Puso", the theme song for Encantadia.
In 2009, Karylle released her third album, Time for Letting Go. This album was about moving on. It became a Platinum-seller.
In 2011, Karylle released her fourth album, Roadtrip. She wrote all the songs on this album herself. Her song "OMG" was even featured in an American TV show.
In 2013, Karylle released "Sa’yo Na Lang Ako". This song was part of her fifth album, K, which became a Gold-certified album.
In 2015, Karylle released her sixth album, A Different Playground. She said it was about her married life.
In 2019, Karylle released "Simula", the theme song for her film Mystified. It was nominated for Best Theme Song at the Asian Television Awards.
In 2020, Karylle released The Holy Rosary: Roses for Mary. This recording included prayers and religious songs.

Writing
Karylle is also a writer. She has written blogs for Yahoo! and articles for The Philippine Star. She launched her own blog in 2016.
Production
In 2007, Karylle helped produce the independent film Ligaw Liham, where she also acted.
In 2018, Karylle, along with Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon, and Diana Zubiri, started Sanggre Productions, Inc. Through this company, she produced the film Mystified and the miniseries B&B: The Story of the Battle of Brody & Brandy.

Personal Life
On March 21, 2014, Karylle married Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon. Their wedding was held at San Antonio de Padua Church in Pooc, Silang, Cavite. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on March 9, 2024, with a special ceremony.
