Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. (born March 7, 1989) is a famous Filipino actor and basketball player. He is known for his exciting roles in TV shows and movies. Gerald is managed by Star Magic, which is a talent agency for ABS-CBN.
People often call him the "Action-Drama Prince" in the Philippines. He has starred in many popular TV shows. These include Sana Maulit Muli (2007) and My Girl (2008). He also played a soldier in Tayong Dalawa (2009) and an NBI Agent in Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (2010). Gerald also starred as a young man with a mental challenge in Budoy (2011–2012). He played the comic book character "Fredo" in Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel (2014). Later, he appeared in the fantasy drama Nathaniel (2015). He also starred in the movie On the Job (2013), which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

About Gerald Anderson's Early Life
Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. was born on March 7, 1989. His birthplace was Subic, Zambales, in the Philippines. His father was an American instructor at the Subic Naval Base. His mother is a Filipino businesswoman from General Santos, Philippines.
Gerald has a younger brother named Kenneth. He also has two older sisters from his mother's first marriage. When Gerald was three, his family moved to San Antonio, Texas. They later moved to Springfield, Missouri, when he was six. Finally, at 14, his family moved back to General Santos.
Gerald speaks English, Tagalog, and Cebuano very well. He finished elementary school in San Antonio, Texas. He completed high school in General Santos, Philippines.
Gerald's Acting Journey (2006–Present)
Gerald Anderson was first discovered by actor Joross Gamboa. This happened when Joross performed in Gerald's hometown. Joross then introduced Gerald to his manager, Jhun Reyes. Jhun brought Gerald to ABS-CBN for the first season of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition.
Gerald and other housemates entered the Big Brother house on April 23, 2006. After 42 days, he finished as the Teen Third Big Placer on the show.
Early Roles and Partnerships
Six months later, Gerald and his screen partner, actress Kim Chiu, appeared in several ABS-CBN shows. These included Love Spell and Aalog-Alog. They also starred in the film First Day High.
In 2007, Gerald and Kim starred in their first TV series, Sana Maulit Muli. In September of that year, they were in their first movie, I've Fallen For You. This film was made by Star Cinema. That year, Gerald won the Best New Male TV Personality award for Sana Maulit Muli. He also won an award with Kim Chiu at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Box Office Awards. In May 2008, Gerald and Kim starred in My Girl. This show was based on a South Korean TV series.
In 2009, Gerald starred in the drama series Tayong Dalawa. He won the Best Drama Actor award at the NSUU TV Awards for this role. Gerald and Kim were named the Most Popular Loveteam for the third year in a row. In August 2009, he appeared in Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla:Tiagong Akyat.
The next year, Gerald and Kim Chiu starred in the film Paano Na Kaya. He was also in the ABS-CBN drama Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo. He appeared in Your Song Presents: Isla with his former Pinoy Big Brother housemates. Gerald and Kim worked together again in October 2010 for the film Till My Heartaches End. Around that time, it was reported that their romantic relationship had ended.
In 2011, Gerald worked with Sarah Geronimo in the film Catch Me, I'm in Love. Later that year, he returned to TV in the series Budoy. This was his first main role without Kim Chiu. He starred with Jessy Mendiola. In November 2011, Gerald made another film with Sarah Geronimo, Won't Last A Day Without You. He also reunited with Kim Chiu in the movie 24/7 in Love. This was a special film for Star Magic's 20th anniversary. In 2013, he starred as Miguel Dizon in the TV series Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.
Basketball Career
In May 2018, Gerald Anderson joined the Marikina Shoemasters basketball team. This team plays in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. He also played for the team in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 league. He debuted in the 2019 President's Cup and helped his team win their first game.
Later, he joined the Imus Bandera team for the next season. After playing for Imus, Gerald joined the GenSan Warriors. This team is based in General Santos, which is his hometown.
Personal Life and Public Service
Gerald Anderson has been in relationships with fellow actresses. He dated Maja Salvador for two years, starting in 2013. In 2016, he dated Bea Alonzo, his co-star in How to Be Yours. They had dated before in 2010. Their relationship ended in 2019.
In March 2021, Gerald confirmed his relationship with actress Julia Barretto. He shared that she brought him much happiness. He also spoke about his past relationship with Bea Alonzo. He explained that it became difficult and unhealthy, leading him to end it.
In 2016, Gerald joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA). He was promoted to Commodore in 2021. In August 2024, he received the Search and Rescue medal. This was for his heroic rescue efforts during Typhoon Gaemi in Quezon City. He has also helped many people financially. This includes the Zambales Aeta people, Marawi families, and Thitu Island children. In November, he was promoted to auxiliary captain in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary.
