Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. (born March 7, 1989) is a famous Filipino-American actor and basketball player. He is known in the Philippines as the "Action-Drama Prince" because of his popular roles in TV shows and movies.
Anderson is best known for starring in hit television series. These include Sana Maulit Muli, Tayong Dalawa, and Budoy. He also starred in the award-winning movie On the Job. Besides acting, he is also a professional basketball player.

Early Life and Education
Gerald Randolph Opsima Anderson Jr. was born on March 7, 1989, in Subic, Zambales, Philippines. His father is an American who worked at the Subic Naval Base, and his mother is a Filipina businesswoman from General Santos. He has a younger brother and two older sisters.
When he was three, his family moved to the United States. They lived in San Antonio, Texas, and later in Springfield, Missouri. At age 14, his family moved back to General Santos in the Philippines.
Anderson can speak English, Tagalog, and Cebuano very well. He finished elementary school in Texas and high school in the Philippines.
Acting Career
How It All Started
In 2006, another actor named Joross Gamboa discovered Anderson in his hometown. Gamboa introduced him to a manager who brought him to the TV network ABS-CBN. Soon after, Anderson joined the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. He became popular on the show and finished in third place.
This was the start of his successful acting career. After Pinoy Big Brother, he and his co-star Kim Chiu appeared in many TV shows and movies together. Their first major TV series was Sana Maulit Muli in 2007. They became a very popular "love team," which is a famous pair of actors in the Philippines.
Becoming a Star
In 2009, Anderson starred in the action-drama series Tayong Dalawa. His role as a soldier earned him a Best Drama Actor award. The next year, he played an agent in Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo.
He continued to take on challenging roles. In 2011, he played a young man with a mental challenge in the TV series Budoy. This role was very different from his past work and showed his talent as an actor.
Over the years, Anderson has starred in many other popular projects. He played the character Fredo in the 2014 TV series Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel. He also appeared in the fantasy show Nathaniel in 2015.
Basketball Career
Besides acting, Anderson is also a talented basketball player. In 2018, he joined the Marikina Shoemasters team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The MPBL is a professional basketball league in the Philippines.
He has played for several teams in the league. After the Shoemasters, he played for Imus Bandera. He later joined the GenSan Warriors, a team from his hometown of General Santos. He was chosen as an MPBL All-Star in 2019 and 2020.
Service with the Philippine Coast Guard
In 2016, Anderson joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA). The PCGA is a volunteer group that helps the official Coast Guard. He said his parents inspired him to join because his father was in the U.S. Navy and his mother was always helping others.
He has been involved in many missions. In 2024, he received a medal for helping rescue people during a typhoon in Quezon City. He has also helped families in need in different parts of the Philippines. Because of his service, he was promoted to the rank of auxiliary captain.
Personal Life
Anderson was in a relationship with actress Kim Chiu until 2010. He later dated actress Maja Salvador for two years.
From 2016 to 2019, he was in a relationship with actress Bea Alonzo. In March 2021, Anderson confirmed he was dating actress Julia Barretto. He said that she brings him a lot of happiness.
