Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu (born April 19, 1990) is a famous Filipino actress and singer. She became well-known after winning the first teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother. Kim Chiu's movies have earned over ₱1.36 billion, making her one of the highest-earning Filipino movie stars. In 2020, Forbes Asia recognized her as one of Asia Pacific's most influential Filipino personalities.
She is often called the "Multimedia Idol" by various media groups. Kim Chiu started her career playing smaller roles in TV shows. Her big break came when she was paired with Gerald Anderson. They starred together in many projects, including Sana Maulit Muli (2007), I've Fallen for You (2007), and Tayong Dalawa (2009). She later took on more dramatic and funny roles. She has starred in many successful films and TV shows. These include The Healing (2012), Bride for Rent (2014), Etiquette for Mistresses (2015), and One Great Love (2018). Early Life and Family
Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu was born on April 19, 1990. She is the fourth of five children. Her father, William Chiu, is a Chinese Filipino businessman. Her mother, Louella, was a Philippine Tsinoy native. Kim Chiu can speak Cebuano, Tagalog, and English very well. She also knows some Waray, Hokkien, and Mandarin Chinese.
After her parents separated in 1998, Kim and her siblings were raised by their grandmother. They moved to many different places in the Visayas region. These places included Tacloban, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos. In 2013, she reconnected with her father. A month later, her mother, Louella, passed away due to a brain aneurysm. Kim shared that her mother was like an angel guiding her.

Starting Out: 2006–2008
Kim Chiu became famous when she won Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. She was known as the "Chinita Princess ng Cebu." To join the show, she moved from Cebu City to Manila. She entered the Big Brother house on April 23, 2006. After 42 days, she was named the Teen Big Winner. She received 626,562 votes, which was 41.4% of all votes. She was the only housemate who was never nominated to leave the house.
After winning, Kim Chiu joined Star Magic, a talent agency. She and Gerald Anderson became a popular on-screen pair. They appeared regularly on ASAP XV. They also starred in ABS-CBN shows like Love Spell and Aalog-Alog. Their first movie together was First Day High.
In 2007, Kim Chiu starred in the TV series Sana Maulit Muli with Gerald Anderson. The show was very popular. That year, she won awards for Most Promising Female Star and Best New Female TV Personality. Sana Maulit Muli was even shown in Taiwan.

In 2012, Kim Chiu starred in the horror film The Healing with Vilma Santos. She played a woman who gets cured but then faces a curse. She received many Best Supporting Actress nominations for this role. Kim Chiu also returned to drama in Ina, Kapatid, Anak. This show was very popular and won Best Teleserye of the Year in 2013. Personal Life
Kim Chiu dated her former on-screen partner Gerald Anderson from 2006 to 2010. She was also in a relationship with Xian Lim since 2012. They separated in 2023 after more than ten years together.
On March 4, 2020, while on her way to a TV show taping, her van was shot at by two unidentified people. Kim Chiu and her companions were not hurt. It was later revealed that the shooting might have been a case of mistaken identity.
Kim Chiu is one of the highest-paid endorsers in the Philippines. She has spoken about the importance of taxes paid by celebrities. In 2013, she was confirmed as the 131st top taxpayer in the country. In 2015, Kim Chiu passed the UPCAT. She then enrolled in University of the Philippines's UPOU program to study business.

Helping Others
Kim Chiu uses her influence to support many good causes. She works with GlaxoSmithKline for their asthma awareness campaigns. She herself battled asthma as a child. Kim Chiu has also helped disaster relief groups like the Philippine National Red Cross. She joined the PETA campaign "Free Mali," asking for an elephant named Mali to be moved to a sanctuary. In 2012, she helped lead a relief effort in Marikina. She was very involved in helping victims of Typhoon Yolanda. She held online auctions to raise money for those affected.
It was also shared that Kim Chiu regularly helps fund Isla Pulo. This is a community of about 1,000 people in Manila Bay who need support.
Business Ventures
In October 2022, Kim Chiu started her own bag business called House of Little Bunny Philippines. It is an online store that sells handbags. In 2023, it was revealed that Kim Chiu owns a commercial building in Cagayan de Oro.
