Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu (born April 19, 1990) is a famous Filipino actress and singer. She is known for her many roles in movies and TV shows. Kim became very popular after winning the first teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother, a reality TV show.

Her movies have earned a lot of money, making her one of the most successful Filipino movie stars. In 2020, Forbes Asia recognized her as one of the most influential Filipino people in Asia. People often call her the "Multimedia Idol" because she is good at many things.

Kim started her career playing smaller roles in TV shows. She became a big star when she was paired with Gerald Anderson. They starred together in popular shows like Sana Maulit Muli (2007) and Tayong Dalawa (2009). Later, she took on more serious and funny roles.

She has been in many successful movies such as The Healing (2012) and Bride for Rent (2014). Her TV shows include My Binondo Girl (2011) and Ikaw Lamang (2014). Recently, she starred in Linlang (2023) and What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (2024).

Kim has won many awards for her acting and singing. Her music albums have also been very successful, selling enough copies to be certified Gold or Platinum. In 2015, Disney Southeast Asia chose her to dress up as Mulan for a special calendar. She was also honored at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in 2010 for her contributions to entertainment. Today, Kim is a main host of the TV show It's Showtime and performs regularly on ASAP.

Kim's Early Life and Family

Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu was born on April 19, 1990. She is the fourth of five children. Her father, William Chiu, is a Chinese businessman from Mindoro. Her mother, Louella, was from Dinagat Islands and later moved to Surigao del Sur, Philippines.

Kim speaks Cebuano, Tagalog, and English very well. She also knows a little bit of Waray, Hokkien, and Mandarin Chinese.

After her parents separated in 1998, Kim and her siblings (Lakam, Twinkle, William, and John Paul) were raised by their grandmother. They moved around a lot in the Visayas region of the Philippines. They lived in places like Tacloban, Leyte, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos before settling back in Cebu City in 2006.

In 2013, Kim reconnected with her father after five years. A month later, her mother, Louella, sadly passed away due to a brain aneurysm. Kim shared that her mother is now like an angel guiding her.

Kim Chiu dated her former on-screen partner, Gerald Anderson, from 2006 to 2010. She then had a relationship with her leading man, Xian Lim, starting in 2012. They were together for over ten years before separating in 2023.

On March 4, 2020, while on her way to a TV show taping, Kim's van was shot at by two unidentified gunmen. Luckily, Kim and her companions were not hurt. Investigators thought it might have been a case of mistaken identity. Later, someone claiming to be the actual target apologized to one of her bosses.

As one of the highest-paid endorsers in the Philippines, Kim has spoken about important issues. In 2013, she talked about how much tax celebrities pay and how important it is for the government to use that money properly. The Bureau of Internal Revenue confirmed she was one of the top taxpayers in the country that year.

In 2015, Kim passed the entrance exam for the University of the Philippines and enrolled in their online program for business courses.
