The JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District & Residences is a super tall building in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It's part of the exciting downtown Ice District. This building is special because it's a "mixed-use" skyscraper. This means it has different uses all in one place!
The lower part of the building is a fancy JW Marriott hotel. The upper part has luxury apartments called Legends Private Residences. Construction on this huge project started in November 2014. The hotel officially opened its doors on August 1, 2019.

Discovering the JW Marriott Edmonton Tower
This amazing building was once the tallest building in Edmonton. It reached this height on November 3, 2017. However, it was later passed by the Stantec Tower in May 2018. The JW Marriott tower finished its main construction, reaching its full height, on March 20, 2018. It stands at about 192 metres (630 ft) (or 630 feet) tall.
What's Inside the Building?
The JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District & Residences has many different areas.
The Hotel Section
The hotel part of the building is located on floors 1 through 22. It has 346 comfortable rooms for guests. There's also a huge conference hall space, perfect for big meetings. This area is about 2,300 square metres (25,000 sq ft) (or 24,757 square feet). Plus, there's a large ballroom that is about 930 square metres (10,000 sq ft) (or 10,000 square feet).
The Residences
Above the hotel, from floors 23 to 54, you'll find the Legends Private Residences. These are high-end apartments. People can either buy them to own or rent them for a luxurious living experience. The entire building has a total of 55 floors.
Building Milestones
The tower reached its highest point, known as "topping out," in March 2018. It officially reached its final planned height on May 8, 2018. Interestingly, this hotel was first planned to be a Delta hotel. But then Marriott bought the project instead.
This JW Marriott hotel is one of only a few in Canada. The other two are the JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa in Ontario. The third is the JW Marriott Parq in Vancouver, British Columbia.
