The Jadacaquiva Church

The church in Jadacaquiva was built in 1749. Alejandro de Quevedo Villegas and his wife, Rosa, were responsible for its construction. They built it because a local landowner, Diego Laguna, asked for it in his will.

Unique Architecture

The church has some interesting design features. You can see elements that look like they come from the Jewish religion. The church's campanile, which is a bell tower, is separate from the main church building. It is designed in a style called Caribbean Dutch. This style is very common in the architecture of Curaçao, a nearby island. People believe that skilled builders from Curaçao came to Jadacaquiva to help construct the church.
