James Green (born July 8, 1960) is an American basketball coach. He recently retired in 2024 after a long career. His last coaching job was leading the men's basketball team at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Mississippi. Before that, Coach Green was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 1996 to 2004. He also coached at Mississippi Valley State University from 2005 to 2008, and Jacksonville State University from 2008 to 2016.

Coach Green was ready to help turn the team around. He also made history at Jacksonville State University. He was the first Black head coach for a major sport at the university. This was a very important step for the school.

Throughout his career, James Green led his teams to many games. As a head coach in college basketball, his overall record was 249 wins and 315 losses. He helped his teams win important championships. For example, in 2007, his team won the regular season title in the SWAC. The next year, in 2008, they won the SWAC tournament.
