James Andrew Jones (born October 4, 1980) is an American basketball expert. He used to be a professional player and now works as an executive. He is the president of basketball operations and general manager for the Phoenix Suns.
Jones played for 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was known for being a great teammate. His nickname is "Champ" because he won three NBA championships.
He played college basketball for the Miami Hurricanes. He was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in 2003. Jones also played for the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat and one with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He and his teammate LeBron James went to the NBA Finals for seven years in a row! After retiring as a player, Jones became a successful executive. He was even named the NBA Executive of the Year in 2021.

Early Life and High School Basketball
James Jones grew up in Miami, Florida. He was a talented basketball player from a young age. He played all four years at American High School.
In his senior year, he was amazing. He scored about 25 points per game. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 6 shots per game. This made him the Class 6A Player of the Year in Florida. He was also named the Miami Herald Boys' Basketball Player of the Year.
College Career at Miami
After high school, Jones played college basketball for the University of Miami. He played there from 1999 to 2003. He was not just a great athlete, but also a smart student. He studied finance and had excellent grades.
He started playing more in his second year. He averaged almost 12 points and 6 rebounds per game. By his junior year, he was one of the best players in the Big East Conference. He was also recognized for his excellent grades.
