Jamie Rivers (born March 16, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a talented defenceman who played many games in the National Hockey League (NHL). After his playing career, Jamie became a coach and later a popular sports broadcaster. He is known for his work with the St. Louis Blues hockey team. Jamie is also a member of the Huron First Nations.

Jamie Rivers was born on March 16, 1975. He grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. From a young age, Jamie showed great skill in ice hockey. He dreamed of playing in the NHL.
Early Days and Playing Hockey
Jamie Rivers was chosen by the St. Louis Blues in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 63rd player picked overall. This was a big step towards his dream. Jamie's brother, Shawn Rivers, also played professional hockey.
Jamie played for many teams during his career. He played for the St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, and Phoenix Coyotes. He played a total of 454 games in the NHL.
Besides the NHL, Jamie also played in Europe. He played for teams like HC Spartak Moscow and HC Ambri-Piotta. He also represented Canada in international tournaments. In 2009, he played in the 2009 Spengler Cup.
A Tough Injury and Life After Playing
In the 2010–11 season, Jamie was playing for KHL Medveščak in Europe. During a game, he suffered a serious injury. He ruptured his spleen after a check. This injury was very dangerous.
Jamie had to have emergency surgery. His heart even stopped for a moment before doctors brought him back. This injury ended his playing season. After this, Jamie returned to St. Louis, where he lives with his family. He has a wife, Shannon, and four children.
Life Off the Ice: Coaching and Broadcasting
After his playing career, Jamie Rivers stayed involved in hockey. On September 17, 2012, he became the head coach and General Manager for the St. Charles Chill. This team was part of the Central Hockey League. The team played for one season before it stopped operating.
Jamie then moved into sports broadcasting. He became a studio analyst for the St. Louis Blues. He would share his hockey knowledge with fans. On August 16, 2023, he was promoted to a main role. He is now the color commentator for St. Louis Blues broadcasts on Bally Sports Midwest.
Jamie also co-hosts a radio show called The Fast Lane. This show is on 101 ESPN St. Louis radio. He talks about sports with Anthony Stalter and former Super Bowl Champion Carey Davis.
Awards and Achievements
Jamie Rivers achieved many honors during his hockey career. He was recognized for his excellent play as a defenceman.
- In the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), he was named to the First All-Star Team in 1993–94.
- He also won the Max Kaminsky Trophy in 1993–94. This award goes to the most outstanding defenceman in the OHL.
- The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) named him to their Second All-Star Team in 1993–94.
- In 1994–95, he was again named to the OHL Second All-Star Team.
- In the American Hockey League (AHL), he was named to the Second All-Star Team in 1996–97.
- Jamie also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 1995 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
