Jan Schlaudraff (born 18 July 1983) is a German football expert. He used to be a professional football player. He played as a midfielder and a striker. Today, he works as the managing director of sports for the Austrian club SKN St. Pölten.

Jan Schlaudraff's Football Journey

Jan Schlaudraff was born in Waldbröl, Germany. He began his professional football career at Borussia Mönchengladbach. He mostly played as a midfielder there. For two and a half seasons, he played in ten first division games. His first game was on 19 February 2003. He played for one minute in a 2–0 win against VfL Wolfsburg.

Playing for Alemannia Aachen

In January 2005, Schlaudraff moved to Alemannia Aachen. There, he became a striker again. He was even named the team captain. In the 2005–06 season, he scored 11 goals. This helped his team return to the first division after 40 years.

Alemannia Aachen went down a level after just one season. But Schlaudraff's good play caught the eye of Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich is a very strong team. They paid €1.2 million to sign him.

Time at Bayern Munich

At Bayern Munich, Schlaudraff faced tough competition. Famous players like Miroslav Klose, Luca Toni, and Lukas Podolski were also strikers. Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld often used Schlaudraff as a substitute. He also played him as an attacking midfielder.

Schlaudraff's time at Bayern was not easy for him personally. Even though Bayern won the league title, he only played in eight games. He scored ten goals, but only in friendly matches. For example, he scored seven goals in a huge 11–5 win against SV Darmstadt 98. He also scored three goals against the Indonesian national team. Before the season started, he had scored 15 goals in just five friendly games.

Moving to Hannover 96

In July 2008, Jan Schlaudraff joined Hannover 96. At Hannover, he played only as a striker. He scored his first two goals for the club on 14 September 2008. This was in a 5–1 home win against his old team, Borussia Mönchengladbach.

On 18 August 2011, Schlaudraff scored both goals for Hannover. They won 2–1 against Sevilla FC in the Europa League. Hannover won the overall game 3–2. This meant they qualified for the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League group stage.

In June 2015, Schlaudraff left Hannover. His contract ended, and he did not get a new one.

Playing for Germany

Because of his good performances at Alemannia Aachen, Schlaudraff got to play for the German national team. His first game was in October 2006. It was a friendly match against Georgia in Rostock. He played two more games for Germany until March 2007.

Jan Schlaudraff's Management Career

After he stopped playing football, Schlaudraff worked as a scout. He worked for a company called SportsTotal. On 3 January 2019, Hannover 96 announced that Schlaudraff was coming back to the club. He would be an assistant to the sporting director, Gerhard Zuber. He started this job for the 2019–20 season. By April 2019, he was already helping with planning the team's players for the next season.

In January 2022, Schlaudraff became the managing director of sports for SKN St. Pölten. This is an Austrian club. From 23 October 2023 to 11 December 2023, Schlaudraff was the interim coach for SKN St. Pölten. This happened after the previous coaches were let go. His first game as interim coach was a 1–1 draw against SV Ried. His last game was a 3–1 win against the reserve team of Sturm Graz.
